Saraband Initials by PJL is a free Gothic initials font built around lavish, vine-tangled lettering. The letters read like illuminated manuscript initials, with dark textured strokes wrapped in curling tendrils and small blossoms that make each form feel half letter, half ornament.
It works naturally in book covers, poetry chapbooks, wedding stationery, posters, and chapter openings where a single ornate letter can carry the mood. As a free font, it is especially at home in monograms, title cards, and drop caps, since the swirling botanical detail gives short settings enough presence without needing extra decoration.
