Author's note

Schnoerkel Caps, a free Art Nouveau gothic initials font by M. Klein, revives around-1900 lettering with curling, botanical drama. The letters coil into themselves with whiplash curves, thorny tips, and dense black shading, so the alphabet feels closer to illuminated initials than to ordinary caps.

This free font belongs in book covers, poster headlines, packaging, café menus, and title cards where a single ornate letter or short line can carry the mood. It also makes sense for monograms and drop caps, because the heavy ornamental sweep gives each character enough presence to work almost like a small engraving.
