Author's note

Segmental by Ryan Smith is a free digital display font modeled on segmented electronic readouts. Broken strokes form squared, angular letters. The repeated gaps and clipped corners give the lettering a mechanical build, with a lean silhouette that recalls calculators and early digital equipment.

Designers working on retro technology, arcade, or science-fiction themes will find it useful for game interfaces and event posters. Its electronic structure also suits music merchandise and packaging for products with an industrial or technical angle. The font is most convincing when the lettering itself needs to resemble an illuminated display.
