Author's note

SF Avondale by Derek Vogelpohl of ShyFoundry is a free distorted serif display font with an eccentric, cut-and-paste silhouette. Its capitals jump between broad solid forms and hairline strokes, with blunt slabs, clipped curves, and uneven proportions making each letter feel deliberately mismatched.

That strange mix suits experimental fashion branding and offbeat music posters, where polished type would feel too conventional. It also has bite on magazine covers and event graphics. Punk, avant-garde, and art-school audiences will recognize the awkward joins and changing widths as close cousins of handmade collage.
