Shojumaru by Astigmatic is a free Japanese-inspired decorative display font with broad, irregular letters and sharply flared strokes. Its compact shapes have a carved, theatrical look, with pointed cuts breaking up the dense silhouettes.
Festival posters are an especially good fit, and the same lively forms suit food packaging, game graphics, and children's publishing. The letters can become part of an illustrated scene, echoing masks, banners, or hand-cut paper shapes rather than serving as neutral text.
