Sign Painter's Gothic JL by Jeffrey N. Levine is a free sign-painter caps display font with the blunt, brushy swagger of storefront lettering. The caps feel cut by hand rather than drawn to a grid, with swollen curves, pinched joins, and slightly lopsided widths that give the alphabet a loud, casual rhythm.
It fits posters, diner menus, retro packaging, event flyers, and title cards where a free font needs to sound handmade without turning folksy. Use it for short headlines, cover lines, or monograms when you want the letters to carry the message themselves, because the chunky silhouette and painted wobble do most of the work.
