SignPainter's Gothic Italic Shadow JL, by Jeffrey N. Levine, is a free comic sign-painter display font with big, bouncing caps and a chunky black shadow that gives the letters a pasted-on storefront punch. The alphabet feels broad and hand-drawn rather than slick, with rounded curves, uneven energy, and that bold offset shadow doing most of the mood-setting.
It fits poster headlines, retro snack packaging, shop signs, title cards, and event flyers where a free font with an old commercial-art wink feels more human than a strict display sans. Use it for short words, cover lines, or monogram-like initials when you want the caps to carry a loud, cheerful silhouette without needing much decoration.
