Author's note

Silvus, by David F. Nalle, is a free Gothic initials font with the mood of an illuminated manuscript. The letters feel carved from ink and ornament at once, with a blackletter-style silhouette wrapped in curling foliage, hooked details, and little thorn-like marks that give the alphabet a wild, medieval edge.

This free font belongs in book covers, fantasy maps, chapter openings, poster titles, and monograms where one letter needs to carry atmosphere on its own. It works especially well for drop caps and short title cards, because the ornament is built into the form rather than sitting around it as decoration.
