Author's note

Simplesymbol, designed by Poemhaiku in 2012, is a free cartoon dingbat font filled with quirky, hand-drawn faces and character heads. Heavy, uneven contours form hats, hair, ears, and other silhouettes, with tiny eyes and crooked mouths giving each picture a nervous or mischievous expression.

Designers working on children's entertainment can use these symbols in game menus, activity sheets, and party invitations, where the simple expressions read like a cast of comic mascots. They can also turn sticker packs or casual merchandise into a lineup of odd little personalities rather than ordinary labels. The rough humor is especially suited to younger audiences and fans of homemade comics.
