Author's note

SM middlisM Bold by Dan Meyer of smashmethod is a free eroded serif display font with a weathered, cut-paper surface. Strong thick-thin contrast and sturdy serifs give the letters a formal skeleton, repeatedly interrupted by jagged diagonal cuts. The breaks are sharp and restless.

Themes of decay, sabotage, and urban wear make it a convincing fit for music posters and game graphics. The distressed slices also suit album packaging and magazine covers built around punk, industrial, or dystopian subjects. In those settings, the lettering can become part of a torn collage or cracked emblem rather than serving only as neutral text.
