SM middlisM by Dan Meyer of smashmethod is a free eroded serif display font with recognizably formal proportions and a deeply damaged surface. Its broad curves, fine serifs, and strong changes in stroke width are repeatedly split by jagged cuts that resemble torn paper or shattered print.
It is especially suited to a thriller poster, where the broken strokes can suggest suspense, violence, or decay. It also suits horror publishing, album artwork, and fashion merchandise. In each setting, the contrast between traditional serif shapes and abrupt fractures turns the lettering into part of the subject rather than simple titling.
