Author's note

SM Phantism by Dan Meyer of smashmethod is a free eroded display font built from broad, solid, tightly packed letters with upright proportions, blunt curves, and a hard, blocky silhouette. The damage is dense, scratchy, and uneven.

Grunge and distressed music graphics are its clearest territory, especially concert posters, album artwork, and merchandise whose production can echo photocopied layers, smeared ink, and rough screen printing. In editorial spreads, the scratched letterforms can merge directly with torn-paper collage, sprayed marks, or gritty photography, turning a title into part of the image rather than a clean typographic layer placed above it.
