Author's note

SM Pianoism by Dan Meyer of Smash Method is a free angular handwritten font with an unruly, improvised silhouette. Sharp turns, changing stroke widths, and uneven letter heights make the writing look scratched out with a pointed marker.

Independent music and youth-culture designers can use it for gig posters and album artwork. Its raw linework also fits skate merchandise and underground magazine covers. There, the lettering can become part of the artwork, like a scrawled band mark or venue sign.
