Author's note

Solemnity, Harold Lohner's free Celtic Gothic caps font, draws on the grave, ceremonial mood of mid-century blackletter revival lettering. The letters pair broad, rounded forms with sharp wedge cuts and tapering points, so the font feels solemn and liturgical rather than rugged or medieval-fantasy.

It works well for book covers, church or choir programs, poetry titles, historical posters, and film title cards where a free font needs an old-world tone without turning fussy. Because the caps are spacious and strongly shaped, it also suits short headlines, initials, and monograms that need a formal, carved look.
