Author's note

Space Race, designed by Margaret Nichol of FontStruct, is a free condensed techno display font whose squared, modular strokes turn each letter into a compact piece of machinery. The tall letters recall sturdy arcade cabinet lettering.

It is especially convincing on science-fiction game title screens, where its narrow proportions and block-built curves echo control panels, industrial labels, and early digital displays with unmistakable arcade-era directness. For electronic music posters, technology branding, and retro game packaging, the lettering can become part of the pictured interface itself, matching grids, circuit diagrams, warning stripes, and mechanical illustrations instead of sitting apart as ordinary caption text.
