Author's note

ST Substance by Sascha Timplan is a free modern display serif with an unusually lean, architectural build. Tall letters, sharp corners, and abrupt changes in stroke width give the design a severe editorial edge. The forms are spare but not delicate.

Its contemporary fashion-magazine manner makes it especially suited to editorial covers and campaign graphics. Beauty packaging and cultural event posters can also use its mix of elegance and tension to shape a cool, selective identity. Against cropped photography or hard-edged geometric imagery, the lettering can become part of the structural frame rather than a neutral caption.
