Author's note

Tannenberg Fett, a free Schlichte Gotisch display revival from Typographer Mediengestaltung, channels 1930s German blackletter through broad, blocky letters and sharply cut corners. Its texture feels dense and architectural rather than ornate, with heavy vertical movement, angular joins, and a stern rhythm that keeps the Gothic character hard-edged and graphic.

This free font fits poster headlines, beer and tavern branding, record sleeves, festival graphics, book covers, and title cards where you want a historic Germanic note without delicate flourish. It works best in short bursts, because the letters lock together into a dark, commanding band that suits names, cover lines, and monogram-like initials.
