Author's note

The Gingerbread House font by Chris Hansen is a free decorative display typeface that looks like it crawled out of a twisted fairy tale. Spindly stems, drippy curves, and scratchy spiral flourishes give each letter a crooked, storybook horror vibe-more haunted forest than cozy cottage. The uneven rhythm and inky, hand-drawn texture make words feel like they’ve been scrawled on old parchment with a shaky quill.

This free font shines on Halloween posters, eerie party invites, spooky children’s book titles, witchy branding, escape-room graphics, and haunted house signage. Using The Gingerbread House at larger sizes lets the wiry curves and swirls really breathe; pair it with a clean geometric sans for body text so the creepy character stays readable and strong.
