Author's note

The Matmos by Margaret Nichol of FontStruct is a free cross-stitch display font built from rows of small, linked X shapes. Its simple letterforms retain rounded curves, but the repeated needlework motif gives every stroke a crisp, patterned texture.

A craft shop or textile label could use it to echo embroidery without relying on a separate illustration. The same stitched construction also suits sewing-kit packaging, workshop posters, and digital graphics for handmade goods, with lettering that becomes part of the decorative pattern. Its strongest context is contemporary craft design, especially projects centered on fabric, thread, or traditional counted-stitch techniques.
