The Troubles, by Exclamachine Type Foundry, is a free distorted display font built from blunt, inkblot-like forms that feel halfway between damaged letters and small abstract marks. The shapes repeat a nervous, drippy silhouette, with pinched points, swollen ends, and a slightly off-balance rhythm that gives the font a scraped, unsettled mood.
It makes the most sense in poster work, album art, zine covers, title cards, and short branding moments where a free font can act more like a graphic interruption than straightforward lettering. Use it for brief headlines, cryptic cover lines, or monogram-style initials when you want the letters to read as strange little emblems rather than clean text.
