Author's note

TheaterSymbols by Manfred Klein is a free theatrical dingbat font of performers, costumes, props, and stage imagery. Its figures recall vintage playbills and costume engravings, with fine outlines and patterned garments providing rich detail. The collection has a clearly historical, lightly whimsical character throughout.

Publishing is an especially natural setting, since the symbols suit theater programs and illustrated festival brochures. They also serve as scene-setting ornaments for invitations and posters, or editorial vignettes for articles on dance, costume, and performance.
