TobyFont-Fullreduced Font

TobyFont Fullreduced, designed by Tobias Düsel and Ingo Zimmermann of ingoFonts Augsburg, is a free decorative display font with roughly cut, weighty capitals. Its uneven edges and shifting stroke widths give each letter the blunt silhouette of a hand-cut paper shape. Small, irregular openings and sharp interior notches keep the broad forms lively rather than uniform.

The cut-paper character connects readily with collage, rough illustration, and handmade patterns, making the font useful for posters and music packaging. It also suits playful event graphics and casual merchandise. Poster lettering is its clearest role, since the broad shapes read as both type and graphic forms.

Twelve-year-old Tobias Dsel designed this font in 2002 during his family’s furlough in the USA. He drew the alphabet freehand in pencil on stationery.

The font originally consisted only of uppercase letters. All other characters, including punctuation marks and numerals, were derived from components of the capital letters.

In addition to the original outline-and-shadow version, TobyFont Empty, the variations TobyFont Inside and TobyFont Full are available. Empty provides the outline, Inside provides the fill, and Full combines both. All three versions have the same body size and can be overlaid congruently to create two- or three-color effects.

The fonts are available as free downloads from ingoFonts. The downloadable files contain only a reduced character set consisting of uppercase and lowercase letters from A to Z and a to z.
