Tot Shrift Bold by Mr. Frukta, also known as Frolov Alexey, is a free old-school display font with hefty slab serifs. Its broad, dark letters lean and bulge unevenly, creating a deliberately unruly silhouette. Rough-cut edges recall old print-shop lettering.
Retro music and offbeat comedy are good territory for this lettering. It suits concert posters, record packaging, and festival merchandise with the blunt impact of hand-cut show bills. The irregular shapes can also enter cartoon illustrations, echoing wobbly scenery and exaggerated figures.
