Author's note

UKIJ Basma, a free retro serif by Alim Ahat of Uighursoft, leans into an Art Nouveau mood with broad, sculpted caps and soft, almost inflated curves. The letters feel ornamental but restrained, mixing sturdy verticals with rounded corners, teardrop-like joins, and a few playful cut-ins that give the font a poster-era, sign-painted character.

This free font fits branding for cafes, boutique packaging, cultural posters, book covers, and title cards where a decorative serif needs a warmer, more hand-shaped voice. It also works well for monograms and short headlines, because the caps carry enough flourish to hold attention without turning into a tangle.
