Varela Round by Joe Prince of Admix Designs is a free rounded sans serif with broad, open letterforms and softly finished stroke ends. Its gently squared curves keep the lettering from looking overly bubbly.
Wayfinding is a particularly good match, since the clean silhouette gives signs for public spaces, schools, and local venues an approachable, contemporary voice and also translates well to app interfaces and community-event posters. In food packaging and children's publishing, the rounded forms echo simple icons, friendly character drawings, and bold geometric illustration, so the type becomes part of a coordinated graphic system rather than neutral labeling.
