VIKING, ELDER Runes Regular Font

Viking, Elder Runes by flansburg_design of FontStruct is a free runic display font with tall, sharply angular symbols. Narrow strokes and open interiors give the alphabet a carved, linear appearance, and several forms use striking crossed or forked details.

A historical game title is its most convincing role, especially for interfaces, maps, and faction emblems shaped by Norse-inspired imagery. The same severe geometry suits metal album artwork and fantasy publishing, where the symbols can function as lettering or decorative marks. Across these uses, the repeated peaks, diagonals, and rune-like branches connect the type directly to ancient-world and mythic themes.

VIKING is a pseudo-historical font derived from Elder Futhark runes. This runic typeface is based on ancient Germanic symbols later adapted by the Goths, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, and the Third Reich, and depicted as Dwarven runes in fantasy genres.

ELDER VIKING is an almost exact interpretation of Elder Futhark, with additional characters corresponding as closely as possible to the basic 26 uppercase Latin characters.

MIDDLE VIKING is the second-generation evolution of a rune typeface based on Elder Futhark. It is designed as a semi-cryptic typeface intended to be almost readable as a Latin equivalent, unlike ELDER VIKING. MIDDLE VIKING contains numeric runes and basic punctuation.

YOUNGER VIKING is the third-generation rune typeface and a fully modern interpretation of Elder Futhark. YOUNGER VIKING, also known as “SPACE VIKING,” contains uppercase and lowercase characters, numbers, and various punctuation marks.
