Author's note

Volute by Dieter Steffmann is a free retro display serif with a late Victorian, poster-minded feel. The letters are broad, dark, and theatrical, with swelling curves, soft flared ends, and a few curled details that give the font its rolling, ornamental rhythm without turning fussy.

It fits best where you want a title to carry some period atmosphere - on packaging, pub and cafe branding, book covers, event posters, or vintage-style logos. As a free font, Volute works especially well for short headlines, monograms, and title cards, because those weighty curves and little inward curls do most of the talking on their own.
