Author's note

Wanda Bold, designed by Keith Bates, is a free retro display font with broad rounded forms and sharply tapered inner strokes. Its curves have an early digital smoothness, yet the changing widths keep the lettering lively. The repeated wedge-like cuts are especially distinctive.

For music packaging and children's publishing, the soft silhouette feels approachable, but the same unusual geometry also suits club posters and entertainment branding. Those pointed openings keep the letters from looking merely bubbly and connect playful subjects with a slightly futuristic edge. Within these designs, the lettering can become part of an illustrated emblem, with its enclosed shapes reading almost like cut-paper symbols.
