Author's note

Wannabe, designed by Gorilla Rox of PYRS Fontlab Ltd., is a free distorted display font with extremely tall, narrow letters and a raw, wavering outline. Uneven stroke widths and kinked contours make the forms look scratched into place rather than carefully typeset.

The spindly shapes echo rough ink drawings and photocopied textures, making the font a natural fit for horror posters and experimental album art. Its nervous line also suits underground fashion labels. On magazine covers and event flyers, the letters can become part of the illustration itself, like a row of marks cut into the artwork.
