Author's note

Weiss Lapidar, designed by Dieter Steffmann of Typographer Mediengestaltung, is a free inscriptional serif with the poise of carved Roman lettering. Its broad capitals combine sweeping curves with sharp wedge-like serifs and marked changes in stroke width. The result is stately and crisp.

Classical architecture and engraved borders echo its chiseled shapes, making it well suited to museum posters and historical publishing. Its formal proportions also fit wine labels, heritage branding, and literary event programs. On a package or poster, the letters can become part of an architectural emblem rather than serving as neutral text.
