Author's note

When I Was is a free handwritten font with very tall, slim letters and the loose proportions of quick marker lettering. Rounded turns, narrow joins, and uneven stroke widths keep it distinctly informal.

Its school-notebook character is well suited to children's publishing, classroom posters, and youth event graphics, especially when the design needs lettering that looks directly drawn rather than typeset. The lanky shapes can also become part of doodle-led packaging or merchandise, turning a product name into another line within the illustration alongside sketches, arrows, and simple character art.
