Xero Italic by Rob Barba of Megami Studios is a free rounded italic sans serif with a quick, informal slant. Its broad curves and softly finished strokes give the lettering a smooth, almost marker-drawn flow. The forms stay clean and spare.
This style is best suited to a logo for an active brand, when speed or motion is part of the message. It also fits sports packaging, event posters, and music merchandise, where the sweeping angles can echo action photography or graphic lines. In editorial design, it can bring movement to magazine section titles and feature openers.
Xero is an intentionally loose creation of a humanist font. Played rougher than its counterparts Helvetica and Arial, Xero works well for those who want to go that route but don't want the sharply defined lines of others in the humanist family.
