Zierinitialen 1, digitized by Dieter Steffmann, is a free neoclassical initials font drawn in the spirit of around 1800. The caps mix stately serif forms with vine-like inlays and curling interior ornament, so the letters feel formal at a distance and richly worked up close.
It suits bookplates, certificates, period packaging, chapter openers, and poster titles where a free font can carry an antique, engraved mood without needing much text. Use it for monograms, drop caps, cover lines, or title cards when you want the letters themselves to do the decorating, because the ornament is built right into the strokes rather than added on around them.
