Author's note
Alpha Ruler Bold, designed by Albert-Jan Pool in 1995, is a free eroded display font with a stark handmade edge. Its tall letters shift between narrow strokes and swollen curves, with uneven contours resembling roughly cut ink shapes. The damage looks raw, not like a decorative overlay.
As an improvised title, it suits gig posters and independent film graphics with an offbeat subject. Its irregular silhouettes also fit streetwear branding and record packaging. There the alphabet can become a scrawled sign or graphic emblem rather than neutral text.
