Author's note

Ardagh font by Anny Mason is a free gothic typeface with a crooked, hand-hewn energy that feels pulled straight from a weathered tavern sign. The letters lean and twist with chunky, ink-heavy strokes and soft, irregular curves, giving words a moody, folk-legend atmosphere instead of rigid medieval formality. It feels tactile and slightly unruly, like it was brushed onto wood in the glow of candlelight.

Using Ardagh, you can give book covers, band logos, game titles, posters, pub signage, festival branding, and craft beer labels a rugged, story-rich voice. This free font works best big, where its uneven rhythm and dark texture can really breathe; pair it with a clean, neutral sans serif for small supporting text so Ardagh takes the spotlight.
