Author's note

BattleLines font by Nate Piekos is a free retro display typeface with a bold, almost poster-like presence. Its tall, tightly packed letters rise like columns, while the rounded curves and blunt corners give it a chunky, hand-set feel. The vertical strokes feel solid and weighty, so words stack into graphic blocks that read quickly and hit hard, even from a distance.

Using BattleLines, headlines feel like they’ve been pulled from vintage film titles or pulp covers—loud, condensed, and slightly theatrical. This free font works beautifully for comic covers, game logos, event posters, retro branding, merch graphics, and bold social banners. Keep it large, all-caps, and pair with a clean, neutral sans-serif for body copy to let BattleLines do the shouting.
