Author's note

Bud Null font by John D. Banks is a free serif typeface with a wonderfully odd, compressed swagger. Its tall, tightly packed letters swell and taper like ink dragged by a brush, giving every word a slightly theatrical lean. The serifs feel sturdy and inky, so even a single word set in BudNull has weight and attitude without losing legibility.

Using Bud Null, you get a serif that thrives in bold headlines, gig posters, zines, book covers, album art, and quirky brand marks. The narrow proportions let you squeeze big, shouty titles into tight spaces while still feeling hand-crafted and expressive. This free font pairs neatly with a plain grotesque or geometric sans for body copy-let BudNull grab attention up top, and keep the supporting text clean and quiet underneath.
