Author's note

CBGBFont by J.F.Y.Daniel Gauthier of GautFonts is a free retro typeface that feels like it’s been ripped straight off a grimy club wall. Heavy, inky letterforms are punched through with circular cutouts, giving each word the look of metal plates bolted together. The rhythm is loud and irregular in a good way-letters lock into each other like a hand-stenciled logo, making short phrases hit with real attitude.

Using CBGBFont, your titles instantly channel underground flyers, old-school punk records, and DIY zines. This free font shines on gig posters, album or playlist covers, skate and band merch, bar or venue signage, and bold social or YouTube graphics. Keep it big and unapologetic, then pair it with a simple condensed sans-serif for smaller supporting text so the wild shapes can take center stage.
