Author's note

Charley font by Isabeel is a free comic outline typeface with a loose, wobbly energy that feels like it was sketched in the margins of a notebook. Its chunky, uneven strokes and airy interiors give letters a bouncy, almost scribbled quality, so lines of text look alive rather than mechanically neat. The rough black contour has a marker-like grain that reads as playful and personal on screen or in print.

Using Charley, headings immediately jump out with a hand-drawn charm that works beautifully for kids’ posters, birthday invitations, classroom printables, zines, comic panels, and playful logos. This free font shines when you set it large and let the outlines breathe, then pair it with a clean sans serif for smaller body copy to keep everything readable.
