Author's note

Daybreaker font by Darren Rigby of Starving-4 Entertainment is a free retro headline typeface with a wiry, upright stance and chunky little slab endings that feel both mechanical and hand-cut. Its tight rhythm, squared curves, and clipped, bracket-like shapes give text a gritty, early-20th-century vibe—somewhere between vintage storefront signage and old newspaper nameplates. The letters lock together in a dense, inky texture that grabs attention without feeling loud or cartoonish.

Using Daybreaker, this free font comes into its own on posters, book covers, game titles, music flyers, beer or coffee packaging, and retro-flavored logos. It shines when set large, letting those tall strokes and blocky feet create a strong vertical pattern; pair it with a simple geometric sans in smaller sizes to keep layouts readable while letting Daybreaker carry the character and mood.
