Author's note
Dwarf Runes, Daniel Steven Smith's free runic dingbats font from 1996, draws on Norse-looking inscription forms with hard angles, forked strokes, and a carved, stone-cut rhythm. The letters feel upright and ritualistic rather than decorative, with repeated diagonal joins and split prongs that make the set read like a band of old symbols translated into clean digital shapes.
This free font makes sense anywhere you want a mythic, archaic signal without drifting into medieval script: game logos, fantasy book covers, pagan or folk music artwork, poster titles, and themed packaging. It also works well for short headings, chapter openers, and emblem-like monograms, because the runic shapes are compact, stark, and instantly atmospheric.
