Author's note

Ebola Kikwit font by Susan Townsend is a free eroded display typeface in the Ebola family that looks like it’s been scraped, shredded, and left to fester on the page. Thick, uneven strokes bristle with jagged edges, giving every word a raw, contaminated feel, as if it’s been stenciled in panic on a rough concrete wall. Despite the chaos, the letterforms hang together with a steady rhythm that keeps text readable at larger sizes.

Using Ebola Kikwit, you can push horror posters, outbreak-themed covers, survival-game titles, nightclub flyers, zines, and Halloween branding into truly unsettling territory. This free font works best when it’s big and bold, letting the spiky texture do the talking. Pair it with a clean, narrow sans serif for body copy to heighten the contrast between order and infection.
