Author's note

Fairfax, created by Rebecca Bettencourt and credited to Kreative Software in 2008, is a free pixel font with tall, squared forms and a stark early-computer character. Wide capitals contrast with tighter lowercase shapes, producing a varied but orderly rhythm. The weight stays lean and open.

Retro game interfaces are its clearest setting, and the same angular lettering suits technology posters, arcade branding, and electronic music graphics. In magazine design, it can turn headings and section markers into interface-like elements that connect editorial pages with screen culture and computing history.
