Install fonts on Windows, macOS, and Linux without duplicate-family conflicts, and diagnose caches or applications that do not immediately see them.

Inspect the archive before installing

Extract the download, read its license, and scan files with your normal security tools. Identify each style—Regular, Italic, Bold, and others—and avoid installing both TTF and OTF copies of the same build. Keep documentation outside the system font directory. On managed workstations, follow your organization’s software policy.

Use the operating system’s font manager

On current Windows versions, right-click the font and choose Install, or use Settings › Personalization › Fonts. On macOS, open the file in Font Book and validate it before installation. On Linux, install for one user under ~/.local/share/fonts or use the distribution’s system font directory, then refresh the fontconfig cache when required.

Restart consumers and remove conflicts cleanly

Design applications often cache font menus, so close and reopen them after a change. If the wrong face appears, inspect duplicate families and internal style names rather than repeatedly copying files. Remove a font through the same font manager, restart affected apps, and retain the original archive and license if you may need to reinstall it.
