Author's note

Gael by Thomas E. Harvey is a free retro display serif with broad inky curves and sharply tapered strokes. Its exaggerated proportions, rounded inner spaces, and irregular flared details recall experimental editorial lettering of the late 1960s and early 1970s.

A fashion label could use it to build an artful period-minded brand that feels less conventional than a standard modern serif. The sweeping shapes are well suited to album packaging where their dramatic thick-thin contrast can echo cropped photography or flowing illustration. Magazine covers and cultural event posters with an artistic focus offer another convincing setting for its theatrical, offbeat letterforms.
