Author's note

Gainsborough by Harold Lohner is a free 1930s film-title display font with the poised, hand-lettered mood of classic British cinema. Its letters mix broad, weighty curves with crisp cut-in corners and compact joins, so the overall effect feels formal yet slightly theatrical rather than merely old-fashioned.

That makes it a natural fit for poster headlines, book jackets, period-inspired branding, title cards, and museum or gallery graphics where a free font can hint at prewar elegance without turning fussy. It also works well for short cover lines and monograms, because the large round forms and sharply clipped details give even a few letters a distinct screen-credit presence.
