Author's note

Hultog font by S. John Ross is a free old-school display typeface with the inky, hand-cut feel of a worn letterpress block. Its chunky, uneven strokes and slightly wobbled outlines give each word a roughened, storybook texture, like something pulled from a fantasy map or an ancient tavern sign. The letters stay readable, but they never feel sterile or digital.

Using Hultog, you can bring a tactile, medieval edge to fantasy book covers, tabletop RPG rulebooks, zines, pub or brewery branding, festival posters, and game title screens. This free font shines when set large, where the irregular curves and dark silhouettes can really show. Pair Hultog with a simple, modern sans-serif for body text to keep layouts balanced and easy to scan.
