Author's note

Iron Lung font by S. John Ross is a free distorted display typeface that looks like it’s been dragged through rust and concrete. Tall, narrow letters stretch upward with uneven edges and gritty ink specks, giving every word a scraped, industrial feel. It has the tension of something mechanical and failing, which adds instant atmosphere without needing extra graphics.

Using Iron Lung, titles feel tense and slightly unhinged—great for horror covers, dystopian posters, game splash screens, zines, album art, and escape-room branding. This free font shines at large sizes where its rough texture can breathe; pair it with a small, clean sans serif for body text to keep layouts readable while the headline does the screaming.
