Author's note

Japanese Designs font by Denise Clendenin is a free Asian-inspired dingbat typeface. Each glyph is a tiny illustration—lush bamboo sprays, curling blossoms, and crisp frame corners—that prints like inky woodblock art. The shapes are dense and graphic, with clean cutouts that read clearly even at small sizes, turning a single keystroke into an ornate border, divider, or badge.

Using Japanese Designs, you can quickly dress up invitations, restaurant menus, packaging, craft labels, zines, or scrapbook pages with a strong Japanese decorative flavor. This free font shines when you set the dingbats large and pair them with a simple sans serif for text, letting the black‑and‑white motifs carry the visual drama.
