Author's note

Mabar font by wep is a free eroded display typeface that looks like it’s been dragged across concrete and stamped down in thick black ink. Heavy, blocky forms are chewed at the edges, with rough gaps and splatters that feel raw and hand-done rather than digital. The uneven texture gives every word a sense of impact, as if the letters have survived heat, pressure, and a bit of chaos.

Using Mabar, you get bold legibility with a distressed attitude that works beautifully for gig posters, horror titles, urban brand marks, protest graphics, zines, and game art. This free font really thrives at larger sizes, where the gritty edges can breathe. Pair Mabar with a clean geometric sans in smaller text to keep layouts readable while letting the rough, inky letters carry the mood.
